What a difference a ‘do makes. Celine Dion, kicked off her Asian tour in Tokyo Tuesday night, much to the delight of everyone. And, of course, it’s Madame Celine so you just knew she’d king things off with a bang – or bangs, as it was. Prior to her performance, Celine posted this to her Instagram:
*record scratch* Who’s that diva in the mirror? Celine, as we’ve seen, has been having a lot of fun with her fashion this past year. I’ve loved her style revolution (I know that is supposed to be evolution but Celine emits so much wattage, it feels more like a revolution, doesn’t it?) I dig this deconstructed shirt dress by JW Anderson. The bright colors against the black background is 80s-tastic but it’s the cut that I’m really into. It’s such a conservative dress style and they’ve just sassed the whole thing up. The shoes are perfect, blue is exactly the color I would have matched in the dress as well. However, the thing most people want to talk about it Celine’s hairstyle because – what? It’s a lighter blonde than we’ve seen on Celine and… bangs. I’m the dissident around here, the lone bangs supporter among the writers so I’ll just say it – I think she looks groovy. It’s fun, fresh and summery. I might feel differently if she took the Dior sunglasses off because somehow the bangs plus the glasses have accentuated her features in a way that, although makes her face almost unrecognizable, works.
Alas, the golden, fringed locks seem to be wig because when Celine took the stage that night, she was back to her long, honeyed waves sans bangs:
I really want to believe Celine is making a joke by wearing fringe on her dress after removing it from her head. She’s playing fast and loose with her hemlines, isn’t she? I got confirmation from Lainey that this dress is Versace. I like the fringe update to the trademark Versace print and I’ll bet that dress is glorious in motion. I’m happy to see these looks because the preview shot Celine posted of her tour fashion was not my favorite.
Ah well, bangs or not, it’s Celine, it’s fun fashion and it’s Friday so I’m going revel in these photos. May the weekend bring us some moments of peace.
