Sonny Douglas Gray is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Minnesota Twins. He was born in the United States on November 7, 1989, and currently resides in the state of Minnesota (MLB). He has a history of playing for teams such as the New York Yankees, the Cincinnati Reds, and the Oakland Athletics.
Gray was a baseball player for the Vanderbilt Commodores during his time at Vanderbilt University, where he received his education.
In the first round of the Major League Baseball draft in 2011, Gray was chosen by the Athletics. He was named an MLB All-Star in 2015 and made his debut in Major League Baseball in 2013. In 2014, he was awarded the American League Pitcher of the Month Award twice. Gray was traded to the Reds before the start of the 2019 season by the Yankees, who had acquired him in 2017.
Cindy and Jesse Gray gave birth to Gray in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and he stayed there until his eighth-grade year, when his family relocated to Smyrna, Tennessee.
